A Day Of Detox
When I feel like I need to recharge my batteries, I know it’s time to have a nature visit. For me it is the best way to release stress and make my mind whole again. I decided to make it a ritual every Sunday to either go to the beach or the forest. Nature is the best detox, even meditation is different when you are surrounded by fresh air.
It is better if you go to the beach on a cloudy day, because you want to detox not fry. And since I live in Florida, the Sun here is ridiculous, I feel like I am in sauna all day long.
When you are detoxing, don’t have any caffeine or artificial sugar. The only thing you can drink is water and caffeine free herbal tea. This is a list of foods you can eat:
- Nuts
- Fish
- Eggs
- Veggies
- Fruits
- Raw Honey ( read about the benefits of raw honey )
One of my favorite things to do at the beach besides meditation is sand exfoliation. I literally roll in the sand.
Then, I step into the ocean ( not all the way, just enough where you can splash some water onto your skin ). Scrub your self from head to toes for at least 15 minutes. After you’re done scrubbing dip into the water all the way and stay there for 5 – 10 minutes. If it’s cold, get over it! You will get use to it after about a minute ;).
Ocean water draws out impurities like no spa can. Because it is the real thing. I was never able to relax at a spa because it feels so staged, almost like an illusion of feeling good, but in reality you are laying in a dark room with nature sounds playing through the headphones.
After I a nice swim, I lay down to meditate. Waves relax me pretty fast so I don’t even have to concentrate. I always try to go far away from people on the beach, that way I can truly relax without any noise.
I usually stay at the beach for a few hours and take 3 to 4 ten minute swims, to really draw out the toxins.
Before leaving, I take at least 15 minutes walk and feel the waves with my feet. When we walk barefoot the earth charges us with real energy, if you can take barefoot walks every day, do so.
When I get back home to complete my day I would take a exfoliating milk bath, and soak in it for 20 minutes.
I add half of gallon organic whole milk and two table spoons of honey into a filled bathtub, I rinse my face with it as well. After this your skin will be glowing, because milk exfoliates and brightens, honey adds moisture.
Don’t apply any lotion, let your skin breathe for the rest of the night.
This is how you will feel the next morning 🙂
