Goat Milk Benefits Vs Cow’s Milk
I noticed that in US not a lot of people are accustomed to drinking goat milk, I am very surprised when I meet Americans that do drink it. It has a very unique taste when you first try it, but then you somehow grow to love it. I absolutely love goat milk and goat cheese.
After doing my research on goat milk, I found out that it is way more beneficial than cow’s milk, or any other milk there is. I don’t drink cow’s milk at all, I will get into the detail why I don’t later in this post.
So, why is goat milk more beneficial than cow’s milk? Goat milk is very easy to digest, because it has more medium chain fatty acids 35 % to be exact compared to only 17% in cow’s milk. Goat milk also contains more vitamin A than cow’s milk because it is pre-formed, where in cow’s milk it is turned into Vitamin A by the body.
The nutritional protein quality of goat milk is at a score of 139 vs only 85 for cow’s milk. That is a huge difference, because an amino acid score of 100 or higher indicates a complete and high quality protein. Anything that is below 100 requires you to combine other foods to make the protein complete.
Other great benefits of goat milk is a higher mineral content of Calcium, Phosphorus, Potassium and Copper.
In a book called Goat Milk’s Magic written by Dr. Bernard Jensen he studied people in the regions of Russia where goat milk was part of their daily diet, and many people in that area were some of the oldest in the world and the healthiest.
One of the biggest reasons why I don’t drink cow’s milk is because I don’t digest it well, it hurts my stomach, and I am a big believer in listening to your own body, it it doesn’t like it, I don’t consume it.
Another reason I don’t drink cow’s milk is because it makes you gain weight. Me and some of my girlfriends did an experiment with cutting out cow’s milk out of our diet, all three of us lost 5 lbs in two weeks without changing anything else in our diet. Then I added the cow’s milk again to see if I would gain 5 lb, and yes I gained it back. I did a few more experiments just to make sure, and every time I would stop drinking cow’s milk, I would loose 5 lbs.
