Healthy Snacks

One of the most important things about healthy snacks is variety. Not so long ago I wrote a post with some great snack options, in this post I would like to add to that list.

Sunflower Seeds

Sunflower seeds are a great snack because not only are they filling, but they are packed with nutrients such as Vitamin E, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B5, Manganese, Magnesium, Copper, Phosphorus and Folate.

Healthy Snacks

Dried Apricots

Dried Apricots are low glycemic, full of Vitamin A, which is an antioxidant and a good source of fiber. When you buy them, make sure they don’t have added sugar, the only ingredient should be apricots.

Healthy Snacks

Boiled Eggs

Eggs is on of the best snack, because they have a higher biological value of protein than beef. They are also full of nutrients such as tryptophan, selenium, iodine, Vitamin B2, and Vitamin B12. It is also a very convenient snack, because you can boil the whole container and always have a quick bite when you need to.

Homemade Protein Shakes

This is another very convenient snack. I have a recipe for the one below in one of my older posts. I always use whey isolate protein, because whey is the highest rated protein on the biological scale, it also has a lot of other key benefits besides providing a great and fast absorbable protein.

I am not a big fan of buying protein shakes at smoothie places, because they add an insane amount of sugar to all their drinks, so it’s better to make one at home.

Healthy Snacks

Figs and Goat Cheese

This is a completely new snack to me, but since I’ve tried it I absolutely fell in love. Figs are a great source of dietary fiber, potassium and manganese. They are also delicious, but you have to make sure you buy them without sugar added, preferably organic.
Goat Cheese is higher in protein than regular cheese, it is also higher in calcium. The nutrients in goat cheese include phosphorus, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B6, potassium, copper and selenium. It is also much easier for our body to digest vs cow’s milk or cheese because of the difference in molecules.

Healthy Snacks

Canned Tuna

I eat a can of tuna almost every day as one of my quick snack. It’s fast and easy to make, it’s full of protein and has a great amount of Omega 3.
