For the last couple of month’s I’ve been going a little crazy when it comes to eating too many snack bars :). Let’s just say I haven’t really been indulging a little on snack bars :), more like 4 or 5 sweet bars and half of large dark chocolate bar and tons of fruit – a day. When we eat this much sugar, our energy levels start to suffer ( mine especially ). I notice that I am having a hard time sleeping and a much harder time working out and much longer time recovering after my workouts.

It was also one of my favorite things when I was growing up. In Russia it’s very common to eat liver, but I don’t think a lot of people here in US like it very much, at least I’ve never met anyone here who does. It is actually a very healthy food and it has a lot of nutrients and vitamins ( as long as you buy it organic ).

Let’s be honest, it’s pretty hard to always eat a super clean diet. Not only it is hard but it’s also pretty miserable ( at least to me ). But at the same time, I don’t like the guilt feeling of eating something that is heavily processed. I am also not too crazy about the rules that you can only indulge once a week, because it sounds like a torture to me that I have to wait all week to eat something delicious.
That’s why I came up with my own technique of indulging every day, but it is all about the right food to indulge with.
Buckwheat – A Very Nutritious Food
Buckwheat is at the top of my ” The Most Nutritious Foods List “. In Russia we eat buckwheat the same way Americans drink Pepsi, it’s part of our traditional cuisine. I am not sure why they call it Buckwheat here in US, because it has nothing to do with wheat a all. It is a fruit seed that is related to rhubarb.
Buckwheat has many different health benefits, and it is great for people who are sensitive to gluten.
But what I am really impressed about it the nutritional profile of buckwheat.
Know Your InGREEDients
A lot of people have a misconceptions about health foods. If you walk through a supermarket, you will notice a lot of different foods that are marked healthy, or disease fighting. As consumers most of us trust into our labels, and we purchase the food that we think is good for us. I also noticed that most people rely a lot on FDA, which regulates what kind of produce and ingredients are considered safe ( by them ). Unless you do some really good digging around, you won’t know that FDA is allowing 14,000 additives that are on the market today, to be placed into almost every food that is made today. Do you think the FDA know’s what those additives are doing to your body?

I noticed that in US not a lot of people are accustomed to drinking goat milk, I am very surprised when I meet americans that drink it. It has a very unique taste when you first try it, but then you somehow grow to love it. I absolutely love goat milk and goat cheese.
After doing my research on goat milk, I found out that it is way more beneficial than cow’s milk, or any other milk there is. I don’t drink cow’s milk at all, I will get into the detail why I don’t later in this post.
Change Our Food System – Join The Movement
The other day I was browsing through the Netflix and I found this a great film that I thought would be interesting for me to see called ” Ingredients “. I try not to watch TV and when I do I make it educational. I love watching anything that has to do with nutrition, but this movie turned out even more educational than I thought. It is a documentary about an actual movement, that I believe is going to change the the American food industry.
